Mind Over Matter

Burning coals? That's a walkover

  Walking over hot coals isn’t something I ever imagined doing. For some people it would be a simple case of mind over matter. But I’ve always favoured a more balanced approach. If extreme pain and potential hospital visits are involved, I tend to be a bit cautious.  That was until I was sent to the Edinburgh Fringe by The Scottish Sun to cover this live event – hundreds of people walking over hot coals for charity. The strongest memory I have is all of us feeling on top of the world – empowered by the fact that we had successfully achieved something completely improbable. It’s good to remember that true strength comes from within and that ‘mind over matter’ however cliched, really does work.
