If you’ve ever been near a web designer, at some stage they have probably uttered the phrase ‘keyword’. Essential to any decent site, they are the glue which holds the web together.
It can be easy to think that a keyword is just a singular word, used over and over again. But you’d be wrong. There is so, so much more to using keywords and, more importantly, making them work for your site.
It might help to think of keywords not as singular words at all, but phrases. There are people out there that use only single words to try and optimize their web page, but they will always be fighting a losing battle with the competition.
Using key phrases which are much more specific to your site is far more likely to hit the spot. Not only should your optimization improve, but your new visitors should be exactly who you’re looking to attract.
It’s worth investing some quality time into your keyword list before you even begin to formulate your website. By focusing on the wording right at the start, you are far more likely to reach your target audience.
